Built in 1996 by the highly regarded Paul Barber and fitted out by the original owner, with further modifications, Last Whim is a compact narrowboat with plenty of potential. Inside, the open-plan saloon, dinette, and galley offer a versatile living space. Both the bench seat and single Pullman-style dinette convert into single berths. A traditional Epping range in the saloon serves as both a heat source and a cooking appliance, complemented by a Mikuni diesel boiler providing blown hot air to outlets throughout the boat. Hot water is supplied via engine or immersion, and 230V power is available via landline or a Victron 1.6kW inverter with 70A charger. The galley features a recently installed hob and grill which needs connecting to a gas supply. The shower room includes a newly fitted quadrant shower, freestanding basin, and cassette toilet. At the stern, the bedroom is designed to resemble a Boatman s cabin, complete with a fold-down double berth from the bed box. Powered by a Hatz 40hp diesel engine, Last Whim is a delightful narrowboat to handle. While she does require some finishing off, this can be done gradually, allowing her next owner to tailor her to their taste.
