Amongst traditional narrowboat aficionados there is one manufacturer always held in high regard, of course here we are talking about Hudson boats that were built at Glascote Basin in Staffordshire. The Hudson formula includes long under water swims for excellent handling, their own distinctive josher style bows, with nice little traditional features like a cabin top stop beam and bulkhead rings. Encased within the shell is a typically robust Hudson fit out in light oak with plenty of cupboard and wardrobe storage. There is a replica Boatmans cabin and engine room, complete with a Beta 3 cylinder tug engine, that not only looks right but gives that mellow exhaust note that many boat owners dream of. When away from a home mooring with a landline connection, 230V power is still always available, with the engine running there is a 3.5kW generator, but when your days boating is done, the 1.5kW inverter comes into its own To keep the interior cosy there is not only the solid fuel stove in the saloon and full diesel central heating, but there is also a range in the Boatmans cabin. Up to six berths make this boat ideally suited for family cruising or for time away with friends.
