Iolanthe was built and fitted out by the well respected Simon Piper, son of David Piper, who during the 70 s, 80 s and 90 s had a strong following with even the earliest examples still being enthusiastically sort after. Simon carried on the family tradition after his father s retirement in 2001. Accommodation is spacious, with the saloon having space for free-standing furniture to be added. The galley has space and plumbing for a washing machine and is also equipped with the usual LPG cooking facilities, Corian worktops and Belfast sink. Cabin heating is by a programmable diesel fired central heating boiler to panel radiators and a towel rail, with additional warmth provided by a solid fuel stove. Mains power is provided by a 2.5kW inverter/charger with 200w of solar trickle charging the batteries. Motive power is by a smooth running 43hp Beta Marine diesel engine, whilst the bow thruster should aid handling even in the most difficult of situations. Iolanthe is in need of a little TLC to bring her up to her former glory, but this could be carried out as and when time allows. She does benefit from being blacked in April 2023 and is ready to head off on new adventures.
