Bradypus is a semi-trad narrowboat, built in 2003 by Nonesuch Narrowboats, on a shell from Stenson Boatbuilders. Accommodation is for four people, with a permanent double berth at the aft, and a make up double on the L-shape dinette at the fore. The galley is equipped with a gas oven and grill, separate hob, under-counter fridge with freezer compartment, and a washing machine, making her well suited for liveaboard use. The bathroom houses a bath with shower over, washbasin and pump-out toilet. 230V power comes from a choice of three sources: an Electrolux 3500W engine driven generator, a Sterling 1.6kW inverter/charger or the landline. Batteries are kept trickle charged by three 165W solar panels with an MPPT controller. Heating is via a Mikuni diesel boiler, complemented by a solid fuel stove, and hot water is heated by the engine, boiler and immersion. Propulsion is by an Isuzu 38hp diesel engine with a PRM 150 hydraulic gearbox. Acoustic sound insulation to the engine compartment, and a 'hospital-type' silencer ensures quieter cruising. Bradypus benefits from the additional sheltered space provided by both a forward cratch cover and a pram cover over the semi-trad deck.
