Augustus is a semi-trad narrowboat, built in 2002 by her first owner on a shell from Burton Narrowboats. She offers accommodation for four people, with a permanent aft double berth and a forward make up double formed on the sofa bed. A folding table with chairs creates a practical dining area between the saloon and galley. The galley is equipped with a gas oven, under-counter fridge, and compact washing machine, making her well suited to liveaboard or extended cruising use. The shower room houses a shower cubicle, washbasin and cassette toilet. 230V power is supplied by a 2kW inverter or the landline connection, while batteries are kept trickle charged by three solar panels and a 15A charger. Heating is provided by a Bubble diesel stove with back boiler feeding radiators throughout, with hot water heated by the engine, boiler and immersion. Propulsion is via a Barrus 40hp diesel engine with PRM 150 hydraulic gearbox, and a hospital-type silencer ensuring quieter cruising. Forward and aft tonneau covers are fitted to protect the decks when not in use.
