Trojan is a delightful 45ft 1in traditional narrowboat, built by MG Boat Fitting on a shapely shell by the highly regarded Mel Davis. Designed to accommodate up to four people, the interior features a comfortable cross-bed double aft and a convertible double in the saloon. The welcoming saloon is centred around a beautiful 1934 Art Deco solid fuel stove, complemented by diesel-fired central heating for year-round cruising comfort. A practical galley includes an eye-level oven and grill, separate hob, 12V fridge with ice box, and plumbing for a compact washing machine, while the shower room is fitted with a shower cubicle, cassette toilet and wash basin. The true centrepiece is the magnificent Gardner 2LW engine. Expertly restored by Walsh's in 2005, this historic engine was originally built in 1955 and supplied to South Africa in 1956 where it was fitted to a narrow gauge locomotive working in the Luipaardsvlei gold mine. Although the exterior paintwork would benefit from some cosmetic attention, this has been reflected in the asking price, presenting an excellent opportunity to acquire a quality boat with an outstanding engine and provenance.
