CARPE DIEM

Amongst traditional narrowboat aficionados there is one manufacturer always held in high regard, of course here we are talking about Hudson boats that were built at Glascote Basin in Staffordshire. The Hudson formula includes long under water swims for excellent handling, their own distinctive josher style bows, with nice little traditional features like a cabin top stop beam and bulkhead rings. This example replaces the more usual windows with portholes, which create a cosy cabin with an air of privacy, but of course along with steel doors all round, they also increase security. Carpe Diem is fitted with a powerful 3-cylinder Beta tug engine which produces an exhaust note of the type associated with vintage engines, but with all of the instant power output of a modern engine. This coupled with the 9hp bow thruster makes her ideal for exploring not only the canals but also the connected tidal waterways. The scumbled and decorated Boatmans cabin is perfect on chillier days when cruising with the warmth of the range at your feet, but also provides a separate bedroom for you to accommodate your family or friends.
